Arizona Rollergirls - All-Girl Flat Track Roller Derby
Inaugural exhibition bout held on March 12th 2011 at Broadway Recreation center

Mesa’s Meanest Maidens on Eight Wheels
Mesa, Arizona March 12, 2011 - Arizona’s newest all-girl flat-track roller derby league, The Arizona Rollergirls, are taking over the east valley on roller skates. Two hot new teams are competing against each other in a bloody show down. Teams competing will be the Hail Marys (Evil school girls) and the Lolitas de los muertos (Day of the dead dolls). This bout will mark the maiden voyage of the Arizona Rollergirls first season of blood, sweat and tears.

Broadway recreation center - is located at 59 E. Broadway, Mesa AZ, 85210. Doors will open at 6:00pm with the bout commencing at 7:00pm. Advance tickets can be purchased for $10 online at Brown Paper Tickets www.brownpapertickets.com and $13 the night of the bout. A portion from each ticket sale will be donated to Alex’s Lemonade Stand yo help fight pediatric cancer.

On March 12th, Arizona Rollergirls will have a sold out show! Carnage will take place between both teams going head to head for two bloody periods. Each rollergirl speeding on the track with eight moving wheels across unforgiving, slippery, wood floors polished to perfection and are waiting for blood. Skaters will lunge into a pack of women amped up on adrenaline, body-checking opponents into each other and into the crowd – which fans often say is the best part. These women who met as strangers became fast friends and training buddies who paid for their skill, strength and speed with hours of sweat on the track. They have waited long enough to show you what they are made of - can you decide which team will go home in an ambulance and which will be carried off in a hearse? There is no mercy for the weak in roller derby, and certainly no room for sugar & spice.

Arizona Rollergirls skate flat-track derby rather than banked-track because all it requires is a flat, smooth surface marked off by rope. Since there is no incline or momentum it makes the game that much more physically demanding.

This ain’t yer mama’s derby!
In the spring of 2010 veteran roller derby skaters Hedy Le’Morgue and Suzy Homewrecker started the Arizona Rollergirls bringing flat-track roller derby to the East Valley and training under our Head Coach, Kassi Nova, to become Arizona’s 3rd Women’s Flat Track Derby Association member.

Some skaters have been skating derby for years and some skaters are all new to the sport and now hold skills and confidence to become their own personal rock star for our fans and besides, “New Blood” always inspires me to keep moving forward to the olympics”, says Hedy LeMorgue #6 feet under. “I never played sports before and somehow it’s changed who I am in all aspects of my daily life, they will bury me 6’ under w/ my wheels on and blood on my uniform”.

DERBY CHICKS WHO PLAY DIRTY GET FIST-SIZED BRUISES
